On Saturday the 30rth of January everyone is aware that it was the day of my Swiss rendition of a Prom. What this means for you whom aren’t aware it was a large dance like Prom but in the sense it’s not at the end of the year and it’s for all grades. More differences or similarities appeared but that will come in a few minutes. ;) Anyway So I actually started my day by going to Bern for my monthly check up with the loveable doctor Sasha. For those whom didn’t get the joke :P I was comparing my German Monthly Lesson with a check up since basically that’s what we do. He – Sasha- Checks up on us to see if we have improved our German and if so how much. Anyway I was nervous upon going for it was cutting my time to get back really short. For see it takes me an hour and a half to get from where I live to Bern so if the German class is done at 3 pm and the train is at 3.05 pm I don’t get home until 4.35 pm. Now on this day I guess Doctor Sasha was feeling very generous for he allowed me after I explained that I had a dance to go to after this to leave the class at 2.55 pm. I went running to the station. You should have seen me it was a very funny sight I am told by my friends. See this small little Hispanic girl racing against the clock and pushing people out of the way. Anyway as it turns out the train schedule had changed and I had forgotten so instead of the train leaving at 3.05 pm it left at 3.35 pm. This put me to arriving at 5 pm sharp. Now you can see how this made me even more panicky for I had not only myself to worry about, but that Sandra – my YFU rep – and Kratip were coming over. I was physically shaking when I ran the up hill journey to my host parent’s house. Luckily Sandra said she would arrive at 5.10 pm so I grabbed the dog – Mika- and to a much shocked Immo and his friends face I raced outside out of breath so I could do a 5 minute walk with Mika so he could do his business. Anyway I arrived back right when Sandra was coming up the stairs towards the house. I told her give me 5 minutes so I could shower and wet my hair. She was laughing silently I bet at my franticness yet being she was a good friend she said nothing. So I did a five minute shower while she set things up in my room. She placed the hair equipment on the table, finding some gel and chairs, and such. See she only had one hour to help me with my hair since she also had an engagement that evening and she lived 1 hour away. So as you can tell and hopefully can already feel the tension building in you while you read I was DEFFENITELY racing against time. So While I showered Kratip arrived and between her and Sandra my hair was dried, and slightly curled. See my little sister and I have naturally wavy hair, actually when I was little a few times my hair would go into slight ringlets. My sisters hair is really pretty straight and wavy while mine frizzes’ and waves with ever the slight curls. Anyway so since I already had some natural ones coming out Sandra just made them bigger. Yet we had a drastic problem, at a quarter till 6 pm Sandra had to leave and neither Kratip nor my hair was done. So under much persuasion – well actually not to much- we got Immo to do my hair while I did Kratip’s make up and my own. Immo is so kind he actually did it without complain. I mean normally men would complain or something right? Yet, not my host brother who is other than Swaana the closes relationship that I have with my host siblings. See he is the closest one I have in age and in interest so he helped me and I’ll always be thankful for that. Yet anyway, at 6.30 we had only 30 minutes until the train to the other city where the prom would be held. Kratip and I were in poor shape and our morale was very low, yet the unbelievable happened both Kratip’s host mom and host sister and my host mom and sister appeared out of no where. They laughed and said in German “We figured you two would need our help and would be running late.” While Kratip’s host family finished her make up and hair, my host mom finished mine while Swaana got my heels and purse ready. Finally we were ready and Kratip’s host mom drove us to the station, laughing the entire way. We were in heels, dresses and wearing so much make up and hairspray we probably made a record. Hahaha.
So onto the night now that I gave you some background information :) We got there at the Humongous Casino where we would be using the ball room for the attire. After signing in and taking off our coats we went exploring. One of the boys I know – a Senior Nino- laughed and winked when he saw how flushed I was from the cold. He later told me on msn how I looked very nice in the red dress and that he liked red. In all actuality he was only one of many whom complimented me on both the coloring against my skin and the dress itself. Another compliment I got was about how pretty my make up and hair was, I mean with all of these compliments why didn’t I have a date? ;) Hahaha just kidding. No but in all actuality I guess I should wear that kind of dress or color red more often if it causes such a stir. Pictures can be found on my face book people whom are interested in seeing how I looked. So back to the story, we got there and danced, ate and took the 3 am bus when it was all over. It was actually a really nice night not the best and certainly got my hopes up too much but it was nice.
January 31st
I spent this day in bed sleeping until noon and trying to get the tangles out of my hair. I also spent the day with Kratip for she came over just so she could see the damage that happened to me and my room in our frenzy.

This was the first day of a new semester and boy did it start of REALLY WRONG. First off all I got to school and there was this assembly I didn’t know about so I didn’t get the memo until 1 minute before it started. By that time the doors were shut so I needed to sneak in with my friends who also forgot about this meeting. Anyway then we went to class and being that we had two new students in the class – a return exchange student from Madrid and a girl whom failed her first Semester of Senior year so she wanted to re-do Junior and Senior year. Anyway we didn’t have enough seats and the girl whom I was sitting next to is really close to the girl who came back so she asked if I would change seats. Now I know it shouldn’t bother me for if it did I could always say “no” yet you didn’t see the look that my friend gave me pleading for me to say “yes” so she could be next to her other friend. Being nice I said yes and sat next to Nadine – former Senior- and well it was an ok change I should say. Anyway the day progressed without further incidents until we came to the good and holy sports. Ugh I know right! Anyway so I went to sports and I hadn’t understood previously that I was meant to bring ski poles and warm clothes for we would be walking IN THE SNOW. When my friends had translated it a while back I thought “ohm that means we would be walking a little in the snow on the street” SO I had nothing warm on! Boy was I freezing and feeling like such a fool when we climbed hills WALKING IN THE FREAKING COLD AND SNOW. I mentally probably said so many foul words toward snow and my teacher that the angels probably fainted. Anyway when I got home I ate, took a warm long bath and went straight to bed.

This started out like any other typical Tuesday; I got on the train traveled to the other school where I would attend Art class. After this art class though I was so upset I started crying that night to my host mom and real mother wanting to change for I knew I was failing Art class badly. I know I know HOW CAN YOU FAIL ART CLASS, well let me tell you easily. Here in Switzerland YOU CAN. Anyway when I got home and after I calmed down a little I wrote an email to my vice principal asking if we could meet in private so I could beg my case so I could change out of that class. Anyway falling asleep with high hopes I dreamed peacefully that night. What about? Actually I dreamed about my parents came over here and were building a castle with the help of my host parents. It had other aspects to my dream but I don’t want to bore you ha-ha. So if you are interested contact me :P I might make it into a movie ha-ha.

This day I went to the French speaking part of Switzerland with Swaana, Holger and the oldest daughter Thaalke. WE WERE GOING TO THE WATERPARK IN WINTER. Ha-ha apparently in the French speaking part of Switzerland there is a nice and magnificent in door Aqua Park. So we spent the day swimming, slip-n-sliding and any thing else we could wrap our hands around.

I went to school and planned on how to talk to Herr Daepp the next day. That evening though I got some news back about what I would need to do since my host family was moving. Being who I am , a worry-wart, I immediately called everyone I knew from the organization and Switzerland to see what were my options. I went to bed not knowing what would be decided about me or what would happen. See my host family is moving the 25th of June and I had originally been scheduled to finish the program and leave Switzerland 5th of July or a little before. Meaning since my host family is moving I had no home and no way to get to school. My host family being the best people they are offered Thaalke's home 40 minutes away from where I live now. Not wanting to impose I said I would talk and see what I could do.

Stupid alarm didn’t work AGAIN and so I was late to music class AGAIN. My teacher wasn’t very happy with me but when I told him I had been ill lately and just came because I had a meeting with my vice principal he lightened up. The guys picked on me for it for hours but my girlfriends were all supported and understood why I was late. After music class finished though I went to my meeting with my vice principal and pleaded my case to him. I begged to be out of that art class and put in somewhere else. Anywhere else. He understood and agreed without complaint. So he put me with one of my best friends Rox in Geography class. The rest of the day went by without anything interesting to say.
